Why Dogs Bark and How to Stop Excessive Barking...

“How do I stop my dog barking?” This is a dilemma thatseveral dog owners deal with, nevertheless, in order to discover how to stop your dog barking, you have to understand why he’sdoing it. A endless barking dog can beirritating to any owner, specifically so when it proceeds throughout the night. Barking is ausual behavior of dogs; on the other hand endless barking for a long time is aindication that your dog has a issue orneeds attention from you.

Always attempt to deal with the problem as soon as your dog develops a barking problem. If you overlook this in the early stages, hemay well make barking a commonhabit and stopping will not likely be easy in the future.

First stage in preventing this issue isfinding out when and for how long your dog barks, and the motive for his barking. You may well need to do some detective work toget this information. This isdifficult particularly if your dog barks when you are out. If you can, try and get a roughestimation from a neighbor.

Few causes of dog barking are:-

- When they feel worried, hungry and anxious,

- When your dog see strangers,

- Insufficient exercise,

- Very poor socialization,

- Environmental reasons such as not familiar sounds,

- boredom, irritation, isolation, etc

Training is most useful in halting uncontrolleddog barking. Shouting at dogs is not going to stop the barking issue; he may assume that even you might be barking along with him. Once your dog recognizes thebasic commands for example “sit” and “stay”, it is possible to begin teaching him to shut his mouth.

To resolve the issue of inadequate socialization, you can take him to parks where he can come across many types of animals, people, etc. First few days allow your dog to view other dogs with their owner from a reasonable distance, gradually allow him to mingle with them. If your dog tries to request something by barking, do not give him immediately and wait until he stops it. Make him clear that he won’t get anything by barking.

Some dogs enjoy barking and they pass their spare time by doing it. Keep your dog busy with chewable or exciting toys to try and distract him.

If your dog usually begins barking when guests come to the house, it may be that he is just trying to get your attention, it is best to avoid giving him your attention completely so that he doesn’t think he has a new way to get your attention whenever he wants.

An electronic bark collar is a method of stopping excessdog barking. This helps in learning dogs to stop unnecessary barking quickly. When your dog barks the collar will give a mild static feeling. This sensation will marginallyenhance if your dog proceeds barking. Don’t neglect to reward him any time he stops excessive barking.

Ultrasonic bark collars are yet another type of bark collar uses sound as the tool for correcting dog behaviour. The deviceconnected to the collar discovers dog barking and withoutany hold up creates some sound which isannoying to dogs and they will stop barking.

Stop Dog Barking Myths Dog Owners Should Know

Media_httpblacksheepu_oqbbs

One of the most annoying problems that any dog owner has to deal with is excessive barking. Barking also happens to be something that is often misunderstood by people and dog owners. In this article we will take a look at some myths about dog barking.

Myth #1: It’s The Dogs Fault That It Barks

Most dog owners just want their dogs to be quiet. They don’t care why their dogs are even barking. I can assure you that a dog barks for a reason and you better find out what that reason is. You can not stop dog barking until you find out why your dog is barking.

Myth #2: My Dog Should Stop Barking Just Because I Said So

Dogs have needs. If your dog is bored it will bark. If your dog is lonely it will bark. Simply telling your dog to stop will not always work. Your dogs needs need to be met and it needs some positive/negative reinforcement.

Myth #3: It’s My Neighbors Fault My Dog Barks

Many dog owners get angry when their neighbors start complaining about their dogs barking. Often they accuse the neighbors of being the problem. The truth is that they are your dogs and it is your job to deal with the problem. If your neighbor teases your dog, then your dog should be moved to place where the neighbor can’t tease it.

Myth #4: Barking Dogs Are The Best Watchdogs

This is completely untrue. The best watch dogs are dogs that barks when they have a very good reason too. The dog that barks all the time is the dog that most people try to ignore. A good watchdog is always selective as to when it will bark.

Myth #5: My Dog Never Barks When I’m Around

Many dogs do the most barking when they are alone. This is why your neighbor is complaining that your dog barks all day long. You may want to seriously consider that your dog is doing lots of barking when you are not home.

Myth #6: It’s Normal For A Dog To Bark

All animals make some noise and have some form of communication. That is the normal part. The not so normal part is when a dog barks constantly. There is a reason for that constant barking. Address that reason.

Myth #7: My Dog Can Not Be Trained To Stop Barking

Some owners feel that it simple isn’t possible to train their dog to stop barking. This is not true. With time and persistence the vast majority of dogs can be trained.

Change for English Bulldog Breed Standard

The English bulldog, a symbol of defiance and pugnacity, is set to breathe a little easier under revised breed standards issued in Britain.

The Kennel Club has introduced new standards for 209 breeds, following concerns about ill health in pedigree dogs caused by years of in-breeding.

Last year, the RSPCA pulled out of Crufts, saying breeding to exaggerate certain features, such as bulldogs' jowls, had led to painful deformities.

Puppy Smugglers

Italy has launched a campaign calling for a Europe-wide effort to stamp out the illegal trafficking of dogs and other pet animals.

The credit crunch has given an added incentive for smugglers to import expensive breeds, which remain in high demand.

How Often Should My Dog Receive Vaccinations?

Vaccines are important to your dog's health as they help to ward off illnesses that may otherwise cause problems. A vaccine helps the puppy's immune system build up antibodies to the specific disease for which it is being given. That way,Puppy Vaccines when the puppy comes into contact with another dog with Distemper, he already has the antibodies to start fighting it before it makes him deathly ill.

There are a few major illnesses that your puppy needs to be vaccinated against when he is young. They include Canine Distemper, Bordetella, Rabies, Parvovirus, and Leptospirosis.

At six weeks of age, the puppy will receive his first vaccine for Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, Corona Viral Enteritis, Parainfluenza, Parvo Virus, and Leptospirosis.

The secondary vaccines come two to three weeks later up to sixteen weeks of age with annual revaccination. Rabies is given at three months, six months, and annually after that. The puppy should start receiving his vaccines beginning before he is four months old.

Puppy's HealthThe vet will know what to give and in which order. They will usually give you a card that tells you what the puppy has gotten and what is left to get.

Booster shots are important to keep your pet up to date on his vaccines and to keep his immune system built up. The more immunity he has, the less chance of the puppy getting sick with the major illnesses listed above. You should also keep in mind that some vaccines don't work on some puppies. Some puppy's immune systems are just weak by nature.

If you have a puppy that is ill, even though he has received all his vaccines, you should call the vet. Never hesitate to get help if you are unsure. The vet will be able to answer your questions and get your pet feeling better.

A Dog's Diet Influences Oral Health

Your dog is your very best friend. Every single time you walk through the door your dog is so happy to see you that he wags his tail and practically smiles at you. How can you show your pet how much they mean to you? Well, one way is to take care of that smile for your pet. Did you know that your dog's diet can influence their oral health?

Humans need to brush and floss their teeth regularly to keep their teeth, tongue, and gums in good Dog Food & Nutrition Guidecondition. Research has recently shown a link between good oral health in humans and a lower risk of heart disease. If good oral health can have such a profound affect on people, then it only makes sense to consider the impact it can have on man's best friend.

It is important to brush your dog's teeth frequently to keep plaque and tartar from becoming an issue. Even wiping his gums with a clean, damp cloth can be beneficial.

Your dog's diet also plays a role in your pet's oral health. Do you typically feed your dog canned or dry dog food? What kind of treats and toys do you provide for your pet? All of these things can affect the likelihood of trouble with your pet's teeth.

When your dog's diet is nutritionally sound, containing essential vitamins, nutrients, and enzymes, your pet's oral health will be at its very best. Feeding dry dog food rather than a moist canned variety is best for your dog. The tiny kibbles' hard surface rubs against the teeth to remove and reduce plaque. The simple act of moistening the dry dog food with water or gravy eliminates this property from dry dog food.

Dog Treat RecipesThe treats you give your pet are part of your dog's diet just like snacks are part of a person's diet. As humans, we tend to want to overlook our snacking habits, so it can be easy to overlook the treats you give your dog. This is not a good idea. Carefully consider any and all items your dog will consume.

Do you give your dog bones, rawhides, jerky treats, or dog biscuits? Maybe your pet prefers greenies or corn starch chews. You may not have considered it, but tossing Spot a rawhide chew is like giving him a candy bar. The rawhide, for example, contains calories and is often provided between meals.

Many of the treats and snacks you provide in your dog's diet can be just empty wasted calories. Some treats, alternatively, provide excellent opportunity to improve oral health. Greenies, rawhides, bones, and hard dog biscuits all help to keep tartar at bay. The softer snacks, such as jerky treats, do not provide much relief from plaque. The healthy treat, on occasion, will also prevent your dog from having bad breath.

Your dog's diet must be healthy to ensure excellent oral health. Dry dog food is best whenever possible. Don't forget to select treats for your pet that will enhance your dog's diet. Consciously monitoring your dog's diet will positively influence your best friend's oral health.

Choosing A Puppy

Choosing the right canine for your household is very important. Will the dog get along with kids? Will the dog get along with other animals in the household? Does the dog have a good disposition? These are some of the questions you might ask when deciding what kind of dog you want.

Are you looking for a purebred or mixed breed or just a plan old mutt? Mixed breeds can be more affordable, whereas purebred can be quite expensive. Don't dismiss the mutt option either from the local pound. Mutts can be just as lovable, energetic, and loyal as the other breeds.

Size matters. Think about how big or small the dog is that you want. Do you have room for the pup to run and play or will it be cooped up because you don't go outside a lot. If so, do you have a room where the pup can run free? Personality for a puppy develops around seven weeks of age. Spend a little time picking and choosing your dog, and you both will reap the rewards. Make sure you can hold the puppy and cuddle him. Drop a book during a quiet moment and see if the pup runs and hides. Get on your hands and knees and play with the puppy to see if he responds in kind or is aggressive toward you.

There are several places to start your search. Asking friends or your vet are good places to start. Also, you can contact your local shelter or ASPCA for their selection of animals. There is also a website that can help in your search.
